Peter Morgan
Age: 62
Ethnicity: Perhaps nationality? Canadian, lived in various Asian countries: Japan, Indonesia, China and, including now a dozen years, in Singapore
Occupation and/or Company: Writer, occasional photographer, Healthcare Information Technology Specialist, Educator
Personal & professional philosophy:
Robin William’s ‘Dead Poet’s Society’ charge to ‘Carpe diem.’ with a bit of Thomas Merton’s ‘find one’s own oath’ philosophy.
Upcoming performances/ project:
I’m working on a collection of short stories provisionally title ‘Tales from BusinessLand.’ All of the stories revolve around the under-appreciated workplace as a fictional setting — in all its variations, dramas and sources of misadventure and human nature let run wild.
What is the highlight of your work?
It shouldn’t matter, especially in this digital age, but holding in my hands the print copy of The Best Asian Short Stories was thrilling and satisfying.
Future goals:
Publish more short stories in magazines or anthologies and seek representation by a literary agent for my contemporary fiction novel that deals with the impact of fate and environment on beliefs.
Project brief / teaser:
Maureen, a Welsh drama professor is in danger of resting on her formidable younger self’s accomplishments when she receives an invitation to teach for a week in Singapore; David, a mature but naive Singapore grad student, is the last to meet her for feedback on his work.
