Michael Germant
Ethnicity: Russian Jew
Occupation and/or Company: Actor, Writer, Filmmaker, Acting coach.
Years of experience: 10
Personal & professional philosophy: My foray into the arts has become an extensive self-exploration; a slow unveiling of who I am and what my truth is.
Upcoming performances/project:
A short comedy I starred in – Caught in the Spokes will premiere at the Vancouver Short Film Festival January 26th. I will star in Island Productions’ presentation of Theresa Rebeck’s comedy The Understudy at PAL Theatre in August.
What is the highlight of your work? I’m really proud of our company’s production of Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph’s play Gruesome Playground Injuries as part of the 2017 Vancouver Fringe Festival. It was the most personal and demanding role that I’ve done to date.
Future goals: I am currently finishing the 6th draft of a feature film script that deals with growing up, post-coming of age, sexual politics, and what it means to be a man in a time of #metoo. The goal is to put the script into production this year.
